2025 Contracting Update with Delta Dental

2025 Contracting Update with Delta Dental

Hello!  We hope that this letter finds you, your family, and your loved ones well.  We know this is a busy time for everyone, but we wanted to reach out and personally update you on our progress with Delta Dental of Texas.

As some of you may have questions, we wanted to clarify some of the misconceptions out there.
⦁ You can use your benefits here
⦁ We will file your insurance
⦁ We will continue to use Pre-Treatment Auth. for financial planning
⦁ If you have a PPO Plan, you do NOT need to find a new dentist

Why did this change happen?  After being a contracted provider for 20+ years and multiple attempts to work with Delta Dental, we were unable to agree with their cost assessments regarding your treatment.  For the last several years the company has changed its business practices to the point we can no longer provide the standard of care you deserve and maintain the current relationship with Delta Dental.  Their continued denials of modern techniques and practice of reducing reimbursement led to this difficult decision.  As your dentist it is important for us to make sure your oral health is at the forefront every time you visit our office.
What will this change mean for you?  The good news is that many of the plans that Delta Dental sells into the market are PPO plans.  We will make sure that your benefits are still available in our office, continue to file your claims, track your claims process, and estimate your costs through the pre-treatment authorizations.  This will continue to allow you to financially plan for your treatment.

Will this change increase your cost?  We have worked hard setting our fees, sometimes reducing, with all carriers to what is known in the industry as “Usual and Customary Rates.”  We know that these fees are covered by most major Insurance Companies, including existing patient plans within our practice.  We want to let you know now, so that we can begin to partner with you to have this change impact you as little as possible.  Our goal is to provide you with excellent affordable care while also maximizing the benefits you have paid for.

Will there be any changes to you?  Due to the various contracts Delta has with employers there is no way to address each case at one time.  However, if you carry a Delta PPO plan, your carrier will still receive the claim from our office, but they will reimburse you directly.  Because Delta Dental writes this in their agreements, you will be responsible for payment of your dental services at the time of your appointment using all forms of payment: cash, check, credit card, health savings account, and Care Credit.
If you have an EPO, Self-Funded, or Managed Care type plan, your coverage could change.  Please contact someone on our team for specific questions or to discuss EPO, Self-Funded, and Managed Care plans.

What options do you have?  You can remain our patient, we will continue to file your claims and you will be directly reimbursed by Delta Dental.  However, we understand that some people will choose to move, and while we hate to lose you as a patient, we can transfer your x-rays.
With great consideration, we have decided to go out of network with Delta Dental, but our commitment to you and your dental health remains strong and we thank you for choosing our team.  We are honored to be your dentist of choice!

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at 713-665-2088

Sincerely,
Dr. Lily Chen
